For a change, the other two weren’t our kids, but another couple who have two kids – but also a babysitter. We went to Zinc, where we sat outside by the fountain; I enjoyed the steak frites, among other things.

Then it was back to Charlottesville for the fireworks, which were a lot of fun to watch from a blanket on a high school field.

It was a lovely, sunny, snowy without snow on the roads, day for the drive down from Wheaton to Alexandria. We had fish and chips at the Fish Market – or rather, three of the four of us did. It was good, but not as good as the same dish at Boston’s Barking Crab. On the other hand, the brunch dish that the fourth person had and enjoyed doesn’t have a barking counterpart.
